Previously, Sarah has served as director of communications for Washington Area Women’s Foundation, where she elevated the foundation’s visibility and influence as the region’s leading grantmaker and advocate for women and girls of color from birth to the boardroom. During her tenure, she transformed its digital presence, spearheaded bold storytelling initiatives, and positioned the foundation as a thought leader in gender and racial equity. Sarah also led the launch of key strategic initiatives, campaigns, and events that drove fundraising growth, deepened partnerships, and amplified the foundation across philanthropic, political, and media landscapes.

While serving as director of client experience at Handshake Partners, Sarah served as an account lead, leading strategic communications and marketing initiatives for several Fortune 100 brands, including BP, BMW, the Caterpillar Foundation, and Caterpillar Remanufacturing, as well as brands such as Abercrombie & Fitch, the Global Solidarity Fund, and the Robert F. Kennedy Foundation. Her work has focused on fostering global and positive change through initiatives in corporate social responsibility, the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, corporate social innovation, thought leadership, and DEI. She previously worked in government affairs at Caterpillar, Inc., and was a legislative aide for Senator Roger F. Wicker of Mississippi.
Sarah holds a master's degree in public relations and corporate communications from Georgetown University, a master's degree in digital marketing and design from Brandeis University, and a bachelor’s degree in musical theatre from the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss). She serves on the Ole Miss D.C. alumni board, is a member of ColorComm and the Public Relations Society of America, and is the founder and CEO of Sarah Weatherby Public Relations. She also sits on the FY 25 Rabb Advisory Council at Brandeis University, making informed decisions for the university’s academic programs, policies, and procedures.
